Features of Best Buy credit cards

Before getting into the cards themselves, there are a few features that are common to both of these credit cards.

Special financing offers

When you shop at Best Buy, you get access to special no interest financing offers.

There are 2 standard offers that are always available:

  • 12 months financing on orders totaling $299 and more, and
  • 24 months financing on orders totaling $999 and up.

How do these financing offers work?

Paying for your purchase gets deferred to the end of the term you've selected. Simply pay it off before the term ends, and you won't pay any interest on your purchase.

However, your card will add up how much interest you have deferred as well. If you don't pay it off in full before the term ends, you'll be charged interest for the full amount of time.

Here are 2 examples of how it works with a $300 purchase and a 6 month financing plan – one scenario where it gets paid in full within 6 months, and one where it only partially gets paid.

Examples of Best Buy credit card financing

From time to time, Best Buy has other special offers as well, including some for specific types of products.

One point to note – if you take advantage of special financing on your Best Buy purchases, you can't earn rewards on the purchase.

Other perks available on Best Buy credit cards

There's one other perk available on Best Buy credit cards. If you're a Best Buy Elite Plus member, you'll get an increased earn rate of 3 points per $1 spent at Best Buy, instead of the typical 2.5 points per $1 spent. That's the difference between a 5% and 6% return.

Annual and other fees

Both of these cards have no annual fee, keeping more money in your pocket.

Both of these cards also have a standard purchase interest rate of prime plus 21.99%. There's no cash advance or balance transfer rates.

Using Best Buy credit card rewards

With any Best Buy credit card, you'll be earning points you can turn into certificates you can use to pay for any purchase at Best Buy.

Every 250 points you collect gets you a $5 certificate, for a point value of 2 cents each.

These certificates can be used to pay for any purchase either in store or online at bestbuy.com.
